Diagnostic Services

Court Square Animal Hospital uses state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that allow us to accurately diagnose conditions in your pet. In addition to performing diagnostics and minor procedures at our hospital, we use our 24-hour location in Huntington to perform more extensive diagnostics and procedures. Our diagnostic services include:

Digital Radiology

X-rays, or digital radiology, are the most commonly used imaging tool to examine your dog or cat’s bones and internal organs, including the heart and lungs, gastrointestinal tract, reproductive tract, and urinary system. X-rays are a non-invasive procedure and helps our veterinarians get a closer look at what is happening within your pet’s body.

Digital X-rays produce a much higher image quality, which makes it easier to view and evaluate compared to a classical x-ray. Digital x-rays offer quick and accurate results, which means less time away from your pet and a faster diagnosis.

Digital radiology is used to:

  • Find foreign objects or materials that may have been ingested
  • Diagnose fractures, bone and/or joint abnormalities, and various injuries
  • Screen for abnormalities within the heart, lungs, urinary, and digestive organs
  • Screen for some types of cancer

Digital Dental Radiology

A significant percentage of your cat or dog’s teeth are under the gumline. With digital dental radiography, we are able to gain a detailed look at the internal anatomy of your pet’s teeth and mouth, including the roots and surrounding bone. Without dental x-rays, there is no way to evaluate this.

Ultrasound

This non-invasive imaging tool gives us the ability to visualize the internal organs of the body. Real-time results are received by sound waves that travel into the body, returning 3D images of your pet’s internal organs. Our skilled veterinarians use these high-definition images to see how the organs are functioning, and how the blood is flowing during the time of the ultrasound.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that is used to evaluate your pet’s intestinal tract. With our endoscope, we are able to remove gastric or esophageal foreign bodies, and evaluate your pet’s gastrointestinal tract. If necessary, biopsies can also be taken when performing an endoscopic procedure. This procedure is performed at our Huntington location.

In-House Laboratory

Court Square Animal Hospital has a full in-house laboratory that allows us to evaluate your pet’s health in the event of an emergency. With our in-house laboratory we can diagnose your pet’s condition within minutes in many situations, and then be able to immediately provide proper treatment. We also work with a complete reference laboratory, with a rapid turnaround time for test results.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

Blood pressure monitoring is critical in assessing your pet. One of our trained technicians will monitor your pet’s blood pressure before, during and after your pet receives anesthesia, with certain medical conditions, or during life threatening situations.

Anesthesia Monitoring

While your pet is under anesthesia, our veterinary technicians monitor all vitals, and adjust the anesthesia as needed to ensure your pet is as safe as possible. We monitor your pet’s heart rate, ECG, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, capnography, and temperature during the entire process of the surgery.
