Dr. Jared Coren is proud to serve as the Medical Director of the West Hills Family of Hospitals and to continue a family legacy of veterinary excellence. The son of Dr. Alan Coren, he grew up immersed in veterinary medicine—spending time at Court Square Animal Hospital and holding a variety of roles throughout the years.
Dr. Coren earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He then continued at Cornell to obtain his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, finishing in the top 10% of his class and earning induction into the Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society.
Throughout veterinary school, Dr. Coren distinguished himself with multiple honors, including two Finger Lakes Kennel Club Awards for his commitment to purebred dog health, the AKC Veterinary Outreach Award for his advocacy for companion animals, and the Neuroanatomy and Clinical Neurology Award for outstanding performance in neurology.
After graduating, Dr. Coren completed a competitive internship in medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. His clinical interests include ophthalmology, internal medicine—particularly endocrine disorders—and reproduction.
He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, New York State Veterinary Medical Society, and the Long Island Veterinary Medical Association. From 2014 to 2019, he was nominated multiple times for “Best Veterinarian on Long Island.”
Dr. Coren resides in New York City with his wife, Jessica, their daughter, Dylan, and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, Kobe.
Dr. Erin McNally is a dedicated general practice veterinarian with a diverse background in science and medicine. Raised on Long Island, NY, she earned her undergraduate degree from Colgate University, where she double-majored in biology and environmental studies. Her academic journey included a semester abroad in Australia, where she embraced adventure—skydiving, bungee-jumping, swimming with sharks, and even dissecting kangaroos in anatomy lab. She also participated in wildlife research in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, studying predator-prey dynamics among wolves, coyotes, and squirrels.
Before pursuing veterinary medicine, Dr. McNally conducted cancer research for four years in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her work led to five published papers on colon cancer, including a featured article on the cover of Cancer Prevention Research. During this time, she also completed her pre-veterinary coursework at Columbia University.
Dr. McNally went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. There, she was awarded the Ettinger Incentive Award in recognition of her academic performance and dedication to clinical practice. Her veterinary experience includes externships in emergency medicine and spay/neuter services, as well as hands-on training in general practice.
She maintains strong interests in small animal general practice, emergency medicine, and surgery. Dr. McNally currently resides in Long Island City and is looking forward to adopting a rescue dog in the near future.
